The Herald's Call is your alliance's circular. Instead of writing to each member separately, one message reaches them all – and recipients can tell right away that it is not a personal letter. Any member can send a Herald's Call; no special rights are needed.
How to send a Herald's Call
- Open your messages and choose "Write a message".
- Click "Herald's Call" next to the recipient field. The game fills in all members of your alliance as recipients.
- Write a subject and your text, send it – done.
For the recipients
Herald's Calls don't land in the inbox but in their own "Herald's Calls" tab, with its own unread count. When you read one, it says "Herald's call to all members of the alliance …". The buttons to mark all as read or delete all only ever affect the tab you are in.
In your outbox
In your outbox a Herald's Call appears as a single line showing "x of y have read it". The info button opens the full recipient list, unread first – so you can see who still needs to catch up. It only shows as read once everyone has read it.
Herald's Call or message box?
The alliance message box (see alliances) is a notice board: entries stay put, anyone can read them later, and the newest one greets members when they log in. A Herald's Call, on the other hand, lands in every member's mailbox and gets noticed straight away. Use the message box for lasting things like rules and pacts, and the Herald's Call for urgent things like attack times and warnings.
