Battle settings

Decide for each castle at what losses your troops give up – and which buildings enemy catapults have to spare.

Under Military → Battle settings you make two decisions for each castle that apply automatically in every fight: when your troops lay down their arms and which buildings are protected from catapults. The settings only apply to the castle in which you save them.

Surrendering in battle

For As the attacker (attacks from this castle) and As the defender (fights in this castle) you choose 100%, 75%, 50% or 25% separately. The value decides at what troop losses your units surrender. At 100% they fight to the end. The lower the value, the sooner they give up: more troops survive, but your opponent wins the battle.

  • As the attacker, your troops retreat. The attack is lost – no loot and no conquest – but you save part of your army when the enemy turns out to be stronger than expected.
  • As the defender, you surrender. The attacker wins and takes loot, whatever their rams and catapults have destroyed so far stays destroyed, and a senator can do his work. Your remaining troops survive – unless the castle is conquered in this very attack. Then they are lost as well.

Protecting buildings

Below that you pick buildings that enemy Catapults cannot damage. How many you may protect is shown right there (“max. …”): small players may protect several buildings, the number shrinks as you grow, and beyond a certain size this protection disappears completely.

Catapults never hit the Hiding place, Treasury or Throne anyway – no need to waste a slot on them. Protecting the Wall does not help much either, because rams attack it regardless.
