Demolishing buildings

Tear down level by level, recover 90% of the resources and free up construction sites – how demolition works from Construction office level 25.

Demolishing pays off when your construction sites are full and you need room for something more important, or when a castle is to take on a new role – say, from resource castle to troop castle. Every demolished level frees one construction site. How to give up an entire castle is explained under Castles.

Requirements

Your Construction office in this castle is at level 25 or higher. Below that, the game offers no demolition.
There is a free slot in your construction list – demolitions share the slots with upgrades (Build queue & instant build).
The building is not being upgraded right now. You do not need a free construction site to demolish.

How a demolition works

One demolition order removes exactly one level. It takes a little less time than building that level, and your Construction office speeds it up in the same way. The demolition icon in your Construction office shows the duration and the recycled resources beforehand.

Once the demolition is done, you get back 90% of the resources that level cost. Its settlers are freed, so is the construction site, and your castle points drop by that level's value.

Cancelling and instant demolition

You can stop a running demolition at any time with “Cancel deconstruction” – the building keeps its level and nothing is lost. For 3 gold a running demolition finishes instantly; this also works for demolitions ordered by the Building master.

Demolishing with the Building master

The premium Building master can demolish too: tick “demolish” for a building and enter a target level below the current one. On every visit he then orders one demolition level until the target is reached; target level 0 removes the building completely. He, too, needs a Construction office of level 25 or higher (Masters).
