Building

Laboratory

Your castle's research centre: improve your troops' weapons and armour here – and every level makes research faster.

Here you research improvements for your troops and your castle (Research). Every research only applies in the castle where it was completed – so every castle needs its own laboratory. You can finish a running research instantly for 3 gold.

The “Research time” column shows how long a research takes at that level compared with its base time. Note: below level 22 the value is above 100% – a small laboratory researches slower than the base time. From level 72 the minimum of 2% is reached.

Weapon research: strengthens each troop type in three stages.
Special research: attack and defence technique for all your troops, plus engineering technique for your buildings.
Advanced research: Mine gems and – in your main castle only – the Philosopher's stone.
The Great Work: from level 50 and with enough special research, the Athanor opens up with its quintessence skills.

In special castles – Baldur's Fortress and mage, Halloween, ice and amber castles – your Laboratory unlocks a castle bonus every ten levels: level 10 stone, 20 wood, 30 ore, 40 gems, 50 trader speed, 60 trader capacity, 70 amber mine, 80 troop queue, 90 treasury and 100 troop production (Special castles). In a mage castle it also counts towards your monthly free spells (Mage Castle).
