In the Missions tab every knight always has five offers. Pick one, the knight rides off, and once the time is up you collect the reward with "complete mission". Until then the knight is busy: no training, no moving, no second mission. With a Guard Master this can run automatically.
What the mission card tells you
- Thalers and Exp – your reward if the mission succeeds.
- Reputation and exploration – which way the mission shapes your knight and what that means for his castle (see The Guard).
- Find chance and item quality – whether an item may drop, for which equipment slot ("random" means any) and how good it may be.
- Chance of success and duration – if the mission fails, you get nothing at all.
Offers expire after a while and are replaced automatically. If none suits you, reroll the list for 1 gold; a mission already under way stays as it is. Items you find have the level your knight has when you complete the mission. Trained Speed and Intelligence apply to newly appearing offers.
Death missions (from level 30)
In the Death missions tab your knight faces a single, mighty enemy – such as the Dragon Warden, the Bone King or Kuno and Bruno. There is no find chance, no reputation and no exploration; the loot is an angel-touched item you cannot get anywhere else. On top of that he earns experience, or Thalers at level 65, and a survivor wears the order "Angel-touched Guard" from then on. You always start and complete death missions yourself.
Which enemies call out your knight depends on his average item value: it combines level and quality of his ten equipment slots, and an empty slot counts as 0. The first challenges appear at a value of 20. Only one offer is open at a time; it lasts a day and can be rerolled for gold. Before you ride, the card shows the risk of death, the odds of the three outcomes and a comparison with a properly equipped knight.
The Bewitched Pasture
Rarely, a knight of level 50 or higher is offered "The Bewitched Pasture" instead of an enemy. There is nothing to weigh up here: the knight will certainly not come back. In return you are guaranteed three angel-touched pieces, shown in advance with slot, level and quality. The knight must be fully equipped at his own level, and you need three free inventory slots. It pays off for a knight whose loot will make your other knights stronger than he could still become himself.
