World, continents and fields
The world measures 1,000 × 1,000 fields and is split into 100 continents. What coordinates, continents, landscape and stars mean for you.
Every world – The Crusades, Venturia and Bloodlust – is a square of 1,000 × 1,000 fields with coordinates from 000 to 999 (Worlds). Each field has a fixed landscape and fixed properties. Castles, bandit camps and wild animal camps all stand on fields.
Continents
The world is divided into 100 continents of 100 × 100 fields each, numbered from 0 (top left) to 99 (bottom right). You can read the number straight from the coordinates: the tens digit is the hundreds digit of Y, the ones digit is the hundreds digit of X. A castle at 345|678 therefore lies on continent 63. The map always shows the continent at the top.
Continents are more than an address. Each continent has its own dragons, and the alliance that rules most of them holds superiority there (Dragons). The great dragon spells Apocalypse and Frost Breath hit an entire continent (Dragon might: spells with scales), and so does the dragon curse from flame amber, which raids every bandit camp on one continent.
Continent rankings
The statistics have their own rankings per continent: Continent: Players, Continent: Alliances and Continent: Military. Only the castles on the chosen continent count there – so you see who really calls the shots in your area (Rankings & statistics). The continental map below the tactical map shows how densely each continent is settled.
Landscape and construction sites
Not every field can be built on: rocks and similar landscape stay empty, and every castle has a protected area around it – you cannot settle right next to another castle. How many construction sites a castle has also depends on its location: your main castle starts with 1,000, other castles usually 500 to 800 (Construction sites).
Stars, gems and sanctuaries
Every field has resource stars for Stone, Wood and Ore, up to five each. Each star gives the castle +5% production of that resource; the production overview in the left panel lists the star bonus. The location also decides which gem the castle mines (Gems), and some fields are sanctuaries where Templars can be trained (Special castles).
