Build queue & instant build

How many buildings go up at once, what an order needs, how to get more build slots and when instant build for 3 gold pays off.

Every castle has its own construction list in its Construction office. Normally two orders run there at the same time – not one after the other but in parallel, each with its own timer. Demolitions count too: a running demolition takes up a slot just like an upgrade (Demolishing buildings).

What an order needs

The building's requirements are met (see the fact sheet on its page) and the resources are in the castle. Your Storehouse must also be big enough to hold them – otherwise the Construction office shows “Storehouse too small”.
Enough free settlers and a free construction site. Only event buildings need neither.
A free slot in the construction list. The same building cannot be in it twice – you order the next level once the previous one is done.

Resources and settlers are due as soon as you place the order. If you cancel a build, you get both back in full – but the resources only as far as your Storehouse has room. The rest is lost.

More build slots

You can add up to two build slots: one with a premium account and one with the mini package “1 additional construction slot” – up to four orders at once in total (Premium Account). An order in an extra slot must finish before that slot's runtime ends; if it would take longer, the game does not accept it.

Build time and instant build

The build time depends on the building, its level, your Construction office and your world's speed; the Athanor skill “Masons’ Guild” shortens it further (Quintessence). It is fixed when you place the order. So before a long build, raise your Construction office by a level first – running orders do not speed up afterwards.

For 3 gold an order is finished instantly – for a running build as well as right when you place the order. In the second case you still need the resources, settlers, a free construction site and a free slot in the list. World gold is used first, then global gold (Gold). The Throne cannot be built instantly, and account sitters cannot use instant build (Account sitting).

The Building master

With the premium Building master your construction list keeps filling up even while you are offline. You set a target level per building and decide what share of the resources he may use; if you like, he also demolishes level by level. He looks after a limited number of castles – more with the journeyman, apprentice or Elite upgrade – and with the master builder's “Build now” function his orders finish instantly for 3 gold each.
