Wild animals

Wolves, bears, wisents and more: wild animal camps grow, spread and raid nearby castles. Here is how to keep them in check.

Six species roam the world: wolf, bear, boar, lynx, aurochs and wisent. They live in camps on free fields, multiply over time and spread to neighbouring fields – the map tooltip shows a camp's generation. When a camp grows too big and too aggressive, it raids castles in its surroundings.

Raids and debuffs

You see a raid coming: a red warning appears, and your incoming attacks list "Wild animal camp (x|y)". Your troops at home kill some of the animals and lose nothing themselves, but they cannot prevent the raid. Afterwards your castle suffers a debuff for a few days: fewer inhabitants, less resource production and a smaller troop queue. Several raids make the penalty stronger.

Small realms are safe: as long as your account has fewer than 1 billion points in total, wild animals will not raid any of your castles.

Going hunting

Military > Wild Animals lists the camps near your castle, filtered by species if you like; on the map (The world map) a click on a camp takes you straight to the attack. Only certain units can fight each species – the table below lists them. The game does not let any other troops set off.

You have to send enough suitable troops: for every animal in the camp you need as many units as the table says; the total appears as "Required troops" in the tooltip. If you send too few, the game warns you – the attack fizzles out on arrival, without losses. What counts is the requirement when you send: if the camp grows while you march, your attack will not fizzle because of it.

A successful attack kills part of the animals but also costs you some troops. Once the population has shrunk far enough, the camp is exterminated, and no new camp appears near it for a while.

Rewards

Wild animals carry no resources to loot. Instead, every kill counts for the Wild Animal Hunter ranking in the statistics: the ten best hunters wear a badge in their profile, and whoever has slain the most animals of one species earns a title of their own – Wolf Slayer, Bear Vanquisher, Boar Hunter, Lynx Stalker, Aurochs Butcher or Wisent's Bane. During events wild animals also drop event currency, and some BITMEUP missions ask for wild animal attacks (BITMEUP missions).

Protection through quintessence

The quintessence skill Beast Control makes wild animal raids pass your castle by more often – the more points, the more often. Ward Circle protects your alliance members in the area, but not your own castles; where several ward circles overlap, only the strongest counts (Quintessence).

Protection through dragons

Dragon scales keep wild animals away for a while: the Dragon Gaze protects all of your castles for 3 days, the Dragon Roar every castle on one continent for 3 days (Dragon might: spells with scales).
