Castles

Main castle, further castles and special castles: how you expand your realm, use construction sites and manage, rename or demolish castles.

The main castle

Your first castle is your main castle. It starts with 1,000 construction sites and can be neither conquered nor demolished. Only here can you turn gems into gold. You can only relocate it after a capitulation: during its first 90 days you may move it to another spot once, for gold – for example further away from your enemies.

Further castles

There are three ways to get new castles: send a construction wagon to a free field, conquer a castle with senators (conquest), or receive one during events. The number of castles you can own is limited. Once you own ten castles (special castles such as Baldur's Fortress don't count), every further conquest of a normal castle needs a deed of conquest, and from a certain number of castles construction wagons also cost rubies.

Every building level takes up one construction site. How many sites a further castle has depends on its location; packages, upgrades and events can add more (construction sites). The location also sets the stars for Stone, Wood and Ore, which kind of gem the castle mines and whether it stands on a sanctuary.

Castle types

  • Normal castle – the standard for every further castle. If it stands on a sanctuary, you can also train templars there.
  • Baldur's Fortress (golden castle), ice castle, Halloween castle and mage castle – special castles from events and upgrades with their own bonuses; you can also recruit paladins there. The mage castle also gives you regular free spells for the Mage.
  • Amber castle – converted with amber. It can't be conquered, automatically becomes a sanctuary and can train paladins too. In return, it can't attack active players.
  • Settlement – from the settlement event. While its protection lasts, it can neither attack nor be attacked. More under settlements.

Managing your castles

  • Overview and groups – the castle overview shows all your castles at a glance. In the group administration you sort them into up to five coloured groups, for example attack, trade and defence castles.
  • Rename – with the small icon next to the castle name in the menu bar.
  • Demolish – you give up further castles via the demolition icon in the castle overview. Demolition takes a few hours, the building levels drop during it, and merchants carry the recovered resources to up to three of your castles. Only your main castle can never be demolished. A conquered castle can only be demolished after 48 hours, a conquered special castle after seven days and a conquered grey castle right away. Newly founded castles have to wait 30 days, settlements 90 days.
