Research
In the Laboratory you make your troops stronger: weapon, special and advanced research – and later the Great Work in the Athanor.
How research works
You research in the Laboratory of each castle and pay with that castle's resources. Every research only applies to this one castle – to the troops stationed there or attacking from there. Your other castles gain nothing from it. Each castle can only run one research at a time, but several castles can research simultaneously.
The research groups
- Basic research: three stages of Weapon research per troop type, with fixed bonuses to attack, siege and defence.
- Clandestine research: the weapon research for Templar and Paladin, with especially high requirements.
- Special research: Attack, Defense and Engineering technique for all troops of a castle, each up to level 20 (see Special research).
- Advanced research: Mine gems and the Philosopher's stone (see Advanced research).
- Athanor and Quintessence: the Great Work for well-developed castles, with a hundred stages and four doctrines (see Athanor and Quintessence).
Research time
The higher your Laboratory, the faster you research. At level 22 you research at normal speed; below that every research takes longer, above it research gets faster level by level, until at very high levels it needs only a fraction of the time. Faster worlds speed things up further (Worlds). In the research tables of this wiki you can set your laboratory level and your world at the top.
With “Research now” a research is finished instantly for 3 gold – whether it is already running or you are just starting it; in the second case you also pay the usual resources. If you cancel a running research, you get its resources back, but only as much as fits into your Storehouse.
